Spot gas ES – 22/01/2021

Spanish spot gas prices continue to fall due to the decrease in gas demand. High wind production keeps CCGTs’ utilization at very low levels.

Volume traded in DA contracts for delivery on the 22nd amounts to 57 GWh. Total spot volumes traded on MIBGAS for delivery on the 21st amounted to 151 GWh, 13.6% of daily demand.

Spanish DA reference price for the 22nd moves down to 23.08 €/MWh (-1.50 €/MWh) with respect to the previous day. Intraday auction price for the 22nd decreases to 22.50 €/MWh (-0.61 €/MWh).

Demand forecast for the 22nd decreases to 1,114 GWh (-54 GWh) with respect to previous day. Conventional demand goes down to 1,050 GWh (-19 GWh) and power sector demand falls to 64 GWh (-35 GWh).

On the 21st, LNG inflows were 42% of total supply. Inflows from France amounted to 224 GWh (100% of interconnection capacity), 19% of total supply.

On the European gas markets: TTF end of day price for the 22nd goes down to 19.94 €/MW (-0.06 €/MWh) and PEG price decreases to 20.06 €/MWh (-0.05 €/MWh).
