Spot gas ES – 23/02/2021

Decreasing demand al lower European gas prices push Spanish spot gas prices down. High wind production keeps CCGTs’ utilization low.

Volume traded in DA contracts for delivery on the 23rd amounts to 33.9 GWh. Total spot volumes traded on MIBGAS for delivery on the 22nd amounted to 77.2 GWh, 6.7% of daily demand.

Spanish DA reference price for the 23rd moves down to 15.75 €/MWh (-0.53 €/MWh) with respect to previous day. Intraday auction price for the 23rd falls to 16.00 €/MWh (-0.27 €/MWh).

Demand forecast for the 23rd decreases to 1,147 GWh (-16 GWh) with respect to previous day. Conventional demand goes down to 976 GWh (-9 GWh) and power sector demand moves down to 171 GWh (-7 GWh).

On the 22nd, LNG inflows were 43.8% of total supply. There were no inflows from France.

On the European gas markets: TTF end of day price for the 23rd decreases to 15.83 €/MWh (-0.64 €/MWh) and PEG price moves down to 15.79 €/MWh (-0.53 €/MWh).
